tested battery saving tips!

I have just installed watchdog monitoring app,you can specify the Samsung update service to be killed at a certain threshold by adding it to a blacklist the threshold for me is ok at 1% it never runs! Certainly noticed improvement so far. On other Android handsets you could stop this from searching for updates but samsung have failed to follow in the same steps!

8.do not use a different homescreen or different launchers, they eat battery too.

- Not true, at least not generally. Some may use more, others may use less. If you use features like widgets that update frequently, that would use more. But just using a different homescreen or launcher from default isn't necessarily going to affect battery.

I know how to make an average smartphone battery last a week without having to individually toggle off all the smart things about your phone: adapt the battery to fit in a nokia 5160.

I guess I just don't understand all the battery saving stuff and I've got it worse than a lot of you all with my 1200mah inspire. But I have 1A chargers plugged in all over the house (wife's phone and nook color use microusb too) 1A charger in my truck, .75A blackberry chargers all over work. I can plug in anytime I want and gain like 10% per 10 minutes.

Anytime I'd be completely away from any type of charger it would be questionable whether i'd even have cell service. When would one actually be away from power? a 24 hour hike? what? If I was hiking for 24 hours I'd probably shut off sync, maybe go airplane mode and just check in every once in a while. charge it back up when I got back to my tent or truck.

I really don't get it, is it for bragging rights about unplugged time? another board I'm on people are constantly "my battery was drained this morning because ____ app had a wake lock on...." Why isn't the thing plugged in while you're asleep?

I'm reminded sometimes of yet another board I read (a chevy one) whenever mpg comes up, here come all the guys that get like 22mpg city in lifted suburbans and 2500s with AC blasting all the time. who are all like "What? you don't get 22 also? You get 12?? seriously?"

Not to brag, its an example of how well the phone can do with propper settings. Before I learned the ways of adjusting settings so I could use the phone AND make it last through a full day I thought android phones were worthless as cellular phones because I always had them plugged in

yes wifi on will drain more battery if you have it on, but aren't using it/in a wifi zone

I disagree. I do not have a data plan and only use wifi. I have tested/measured my battery use on my phone with both wifi on and wifi off. While in standby, there is no appreciable difference in battery usage. So I leave the wifi toggled on all the time. Of course if you are using the wifi to browse, playgames, download, sync etc, that is a different story.

Same thing with GPS. While it is toggled on, there is no appreciable battery usage. But if you are using a GPS app, eg Maps, GPS Status, RunKeeper etc., you will burn out your battery in less than an hour.

Because I rely on wifi and find it inconvenient to toggle it on and off, I just keep it on all the time.
