Greetings. I've lurked this forum for a while but I decided to register and try to help the community by posting a thread here about the accessories I use on my Optimus V.
I've been using my Optimus V for almost 4 months now and it's been great, very few issues and you can't beat that price for an android phone!
Here is a list with links to what I use and where I got it (if possible). Please add or comment as you wish, and if you like I'll edit new entries into the original post. If any links get outdated or don't work, just make a post and I will try to ammend the issue promptly.

$3 plus shipping. Even though this case is for the Optimus S, it fits the V fine. I'm sure there are nicer cases, but this one does a good job of protecting the phone and it's cheap. Only issue I had was the charging plug not fitting into the silicone slot for it, so I stretched it out a bit and it works better.
2. Screen Protectors: Amazon.com: 5x LG Optimus S LS670 Premium Clear LCD Screen Protector Shield Cover Guard Film Kit, no cutting is required! Exact fit and satisfaction guaranteed!: Cell Phones & Accessories
$1 plus shipping. You'll want these before you even get your phone. They fit perfectly and even though you may not need five of them, it's nice to have another around in case the one you're using gets damaged.
3. Audio Cable: 2.5ft Retractable 3.5mm Audio Cable - Black | 3.5mm Audio M/M Retractable Cables
$1 plus shipping. Cheap retractable audio cable, for use in the car. 'Nuff said.
4. USB Cable: 1.5ft USB 2.0 A Male to Micro 5pin Male 28/28AWG Cable | USB 2.0 Cables - Micro-B Type
$2 plus shipping. Cheap USB cable for use in car. Get a couple and use the bulk discount if you want.
5. USB Adapter: Car Charger (Cigarette Lighter) to USB Female Converter - Black | Car Charger Accessories
$2 plus shipping. Use this with your USB cable to charge on the road.
6. Battery: Micro USB Backup Battery Pack for Smart Phones, Cell Phones and Cameras (1900mAh) - Black | Back Up External Battery and Charger
$9 plus shipping. This one is your call. You can certainly get internal batteries much cheaper, but I don't feel comfortable using any battery besides the OEM battery. However, battery life is certainly an issue. I opted for this portable 1900mAH USB backup battery. It's like a second battery, but I don't need to take apart my phone or lose the temperature sensor on the OEM battery.

This item I have not used myself, so it's not entirely fair that I post it here. I thought a link might be helpful, though. My phone's original SD card crapped out shortly after I got the phone. I didn't want to wait for shipping, so I got another 2GB one at a local store and that's all the storage I need. I put links here to reasonably priced 16gb and 32gb models for your convenience.
