Testing HTC Desire screen with 'Touch Test' app

Can somebody do me a big favour and test their HTC Desire screen with the Touch Test app from the market (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.hermit.touchtest&hl=en) and verify it works as expected. Especially good if you're on a stock ROM, esp the HTC gingerbread update.

Reason I ask is want to double check this app works OK on the Desire to follow up what I believe to be a faulty repair. As per my post on the HTC repair thread in this forum recieved the phone back from repair with intermittent touch screen issues. Sometimes if you press the top part of the screen a 'press appears' on the bottom half, sometimes nothing happens, sometimes it works fine. Tested the touch test app on the device and it shows some unusual behaviour (touch points not tracking properly or getting 'confused'), esp when using two touch points which backs up the faulty screen. Tried the app on two other android devices and it works fine. The phone was back with HTC and is on it's way back with no fault found

I'm using GB but not HTC stock. The app generally works on mine except when touching 2 points diagonally opposite. Ok if horizontal or vertical, but when diagonal it sometimes registers the touch points in the wrong places. If you image the 2 points as corners of a rectangle, the app sometimes shows the other 2 corners as having been touched - and if I pinch in it draws lines from the phantom points too.

Now that may really be the phone software rather than the app, because in real use of such gestures it would make no difference.

The only time I see a misplaced touch in normal use is in the market app - if I return to my app list while one download is starting and select another it often registers at the bottom of the screen. But only when a download is occurring and only in that app.

Hi,

thanks for that. That is the exact same behaviour I see using the app. App works perfectly on my desire Z.

Still an intermittent issue with the touchscreen following repair but guess this app isn't the way to troubleshoot it.
