Tetering and talking at the same time?

mystylion

Lurker
I only have my Razr to use as internet for my computer with hotspot. I have a data package with unlimited usage, however using hotspot I can't talk at the same time (right?). My question is that if I use tethering can I then talk at the same time? If so, I haven't been able to access the internet with tethering (hence why I have been using hotspot). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to the forums mystylion, glad to have you aboard!

I have never personally used the tether feature so i wouldn't know, therefore, to receive better support i have moved your thread into the Android Lounge, where general discussion and support questions are asked.

Hope you get the answer you are looking for and thanks for joining :D

Welcome mystylion!
Which razr do you have?
I doubt if you can use data and talk at the same time, however I could be wrong and would perhaps direct you to your phones forum is all :)

TL : DR - No, you can't

CDMA/LTE networks are not able to do voice and data at the same time. For now, it has to be one or the other. VoLTE is in the works, but not standard yet.

T-Mobile and AT&T both allow voice and data simultaneously because of their GSM networks.

The newer phones with LTE.. Can do both at the same time. Depending on the model. Some support it and some don't.

Some will on both 3G and 4G. Some only 4G.
You May need to upgrade your phone. I think the one x can. The note 2 can only on 4G
