tether Nexus 7

What app works to feed WIFI to a Nexus 7 with a non-rooted Razr? I am a Gnex brother but I'm helping out my Razr friend. She wants to make sure no surprise charges on her bill.

I use FoxFi. I don't stay connected very long because I'm worried that Verizon will figure it out (I'm on an unlimited plan), but when I do connect I have no issues...

Plus one for FoxFi. I've used it as my home internet for a weekend between moving in and getting the home internet installed. I also use it occasionally when my work/school wifi is having a tantrum. It works well on my Razr and no surprise bills. From the number of people using tethering and the few, if any, that were fined/etc for it you are probably safe using it for a reasonable amount of use.

That said, just because they haven't fined people in the past for it doesn't mean they won't at some point in the future. Especially since they might decide to find ways to push people off unlimited data.

You didn't mention whether your friend was on unlimited or a tiered data plan. If they are on a tiered plan, tethering is free by FCC regulation.
 
One other thing that I forgot to mention--Foxfi mentions setting up a proxy on the connection to throw off the data sniffing hounds. I don't know if it works, but I set one up anyways to be safe... :D
 
Thanks tried it but it can't find internet connection although I can connect to internet through stock browser.
As don't really need it not bothered to go through hoops to get it to work so uninstalled it.

Did you let it sit for a minute? It takes about 30 seconds after my hotspot becomes available before i get internet access.
 
Thank you guys. She has unlimited. We tried to connect to it from a laptop and my Gnex and although we could connect, we couldn't access the internet.
