Tethering (phone checks with Verizon)

I dug into settings and found the tethering/hotspot section. I enabled the wireless hotspot and noticed something interesting. The phone checked my subscription information, pretty smart on Verizon's part if you ask me but will probably upset many people.

I'm sure there will be a fix for the root/rom community but for those of us who pay it's nice to see native support without having Verizon's annoying app installed.

Do you have to pay Verizon and extra fee to have hotspot turned on?

According to their terms and conditions you do. I'm probably one of the few who actually pay for it.
