Help Tethering problems on Bionic

This is my first post here, as this is my first experience with an Android phone. It was provided to me by my company, mainly to be able to tether while I am out and about. I use GoToMyPC a lot, to access my office network. When I am on a WIFI network, all is well and I can do any work that I need to. But when I use my Bionic to tether, it cuts off my connection every 10-20 seconds. I have tried tethering on my Iphone4 and this does not occur. I went through my settings and I seem to have everything correct. Has anyone else had similar issues ? What would you folks suggest ? If I cannot get it to provide me a good tethering connection, I will have to get rid of the phone. Something I would rather not do.

It's a free tethering program. Though if you want to view secure pages, it's $15. It was useful when we moved and the cable guy couldn't come out for 2 weeks. Check it out on the Market.

Thanks for the tip Spin. It works great. Now I have another problem. My USB port on my I7 HP cannot keep up with the battery drain of the Bionic. This is just ridiculous. I have to be plugged in to get proper Tethering. This phone is very frustrating

Well, think what you are demanding of it, you want it to process all the new data, transmit it to the laptop and do all of its normal jobs and still charge...

Laptops and desktop USB ports only put out half or less what a wall outlet puts out (I think that is, not 100% certain).

Maybe its the third-party software you are running that should be frustrating you.

If you were to run the mobile hotspot from Verizon they recommend that you have it plugged into the wall charger because of the very hard battery use.

I use to use all those free programs, like PDA Net and wireless tether (on my rooted eris). IMO they all sucked! I could never sustain my data connection for more than 15-20 minutes. Then I would have to turn it on/off etc...

Anyhow when I got the Bionic I talked my work into getting me the Mobile Hot Spot service. It is fantastic! It actually works so well that I decided to drop my home ISP. The only downfall is the battery consumption. It is basically impossible to use any tethering program without your phone being plugged into a wall outlet. If you are not plugged in, you will get very little time before your battery is screaming at you.
