Help tethering the at&t streak

I have been trying to tother my streak, but it seems to be impossible on the at&t model.

I have so far tried pdanet (usb driver error), barnacle legacy (can upload but not download), aandroid-wifi-tether (apparently incompatible with 1.6), android wired tether (1.6), and one more that I dont recall the name of, which simply crashed.

What other tethering applications should I try? This is getting incredibly frustrating, especially since my brother took it upon himself to destroy my iphone which I could still use for tethering.

I tested this today with barnacle.

The clients cannot get get DNS info.
in Barnacle;
WAN is: rmnet0
LAN is: eth0

I'm going to try and set the DNS servers manually, but it shouldn't be necessary
