Still haven't come across a way to make the native tethering and hotspot work on this phone. But PDAnet and Foxfi work excellently. Both work with out root. Foxfi is blocked for Sprint users in the market but you can get it by googling its home page. Remember to go to settings/apps and click on use 3rd party or it won't work.
So what we need now is to put all our tricks and tips in one place. I'll go first with what i have, please post anything you got.
2 reasons to use a VPN that have nothing to do with security or privacy.
1. It can speed up your surfing and allow pages to load that would otherwise not work. I'll keep it simple here with the explanation and hopefulluy its an ahha moment. Your pc is asking for information and page loads in the full glory of a true pc but the network is also seeing that your on a mobile device. There is no uniformity on the net some servers this won't bother but a lot of them just don't know how to respond so you get a super long page load or a connection time out.
Using the VPN tunnel protocol masks the phone. They assign you a new I.P that to the rest of the net looks like it is originating from a pc on the servers lan.
2. PDAnet is great but the free version blocks you from visiting some sites. The encrypted tunnel that is set up between your pc and the VPN server masks the traffic so not even your phone or any app on it can sniff packet headers. Dropbox is on the list of secured sites PDAnet won't let you connect to with the free version.
Mods, my first post isn't specific to this phone but I hope later we get to things dealing with this phones native tether capabilities so please don't move from this forum.
