Tethering with no root required

while we're desperately trying to root this phone, here is a link to a couple of apps that don't require root access to tether: https://market.android.com/search?q=pdanet. I'm writing this from my USB-tethered indulge using a free version of easytether lite. unlike PDANet, which is $30 for full version, paid version of easytether is only $10. free version doesn't let you access https but only http. the speed sucks, though, as it feels like it's being throttled somewhere along the way - I'm barely getting half the speed I'm getting on the phone itself...

which software you tethered with? easytether? or did you manage to get something else going? isn't this, too, about a half of the speed you get on your phone?

I was using easy tether lite and no it was getting about the same speeds as the speedtest.net app was saying on the phone itself.

My speeds here in florida tend to fluctuate though. sometimes ill get 1mb and sometimes ill run the test and be getting 5.4

I wouldn't call MetroPCS's speeds as being consistant at all. I can test the phone 10 times in a row and get different results each time.

that's weird. Like I said, I'm getting about a half the speed of the phone when tethering and I've upgrade to easytether pro...

Did you see that he also posted a vid on how to make a molotov cocktail? Gotta love free press LOL
