Hi all,

Is it possible to connect my PC to my phone's wifi hotspot without data being enabled on my phone? I understand the main reason of doing this is to tether and allow my PC to use my phone's internet but what if I only want my phone and PC to be connected wirelessly?

I've tried this using a wifi hotspot and it seems to only work when the data is enabled, as soon as I switch the data connection off, the wifi hotspot connection also seems to be automatically disabled - is there any way around this?

Thank you for any help.

Hi

If you have your PC and phone connected to the same wifi network (eg at home) then you can do data transfer over wifi quite easily. If you do not have a wifi network for them both to connect to, you can create one.

Assuming you dont have a wifi network:

Install ES file manager
Go to the "network manager"
Create a hotspot from there - it will give you an SSID and password. Connect to it on your PC. I find that using an app on the PC such as Filezilla really makes it easy as it shows both devices file trees next to each other.

If you do have a wifi network, use that option in ES file manager. There are other apps that do this - a few are called FTPserver..
