Help Tethering

I used to be on an unlimited plan (I know, I gave it up, it was my choice, and one I didn't make lightly), and now I'm on a 6GB Edge plan.

With my GNex (rooted), I would be able to tether my device without getting any warnings or without being blocked by Verizon.

I was curious and tried launching a hotspot and my device politely told me I was not able to do such a thing as my plan didn't allow it.

Is there a way to launch a hotspot once I've rooted without being blocked by Verizon? Thank!

Do you have to be rooted for FoxFi to work on the VZW Moto X?

I don't do much tethering but I'm in IT so every once in awhile it comes in handy to tether purely as a test to see if an issue is firewall related... I set up FoxFi on my new X, but when I went to test it I was getting a certificate error.

No it works without root. I came from a rooted GNex now on a stock VZW Moto X and it works just the same. I don't do a lot of tethering but when it's needed it's nice to have

I thought when they swapped you to a limited data plan tethering came free through the verizon app. Might try calling Customer service.

On the Edge plan, the 6 GB data plan does not include hotspot. I believe that there is an 8 GB data plan for Edge that has it.

How do I remove the credentials that FoxFi installs? I don't want to have a lock screen on my phone. I know, this is not safe, I'm ok with that.

Nevermind. Got it.

Are there any other options that won't force me to trust some credential certificate and set a passkey on my phone? :)
