Text app

Is there an app that shows message being read and shows when the person is writing you back? My daughters iPhone app does this.

I'm not sure there's a text app that would do this, but I know on when I'm having conversations with people on Whatsapp, when they are responding to a message, it will say "typing" underneath their username in my contact list.
