Help Text charectors

This going to sound a daft question, and is just something else that I am querying with my new 'state of the art' and 'wonderful' piece of kit...

A text. Does anyone know how many charectors one can type before the text ends up as 2 or 3 or 4 texts?

Being used to a Nokia that could send the equivelent of an A4 letter as one text, I thought my old Samsung was bad for the amount of charectors, but this one seems to take the biscuit...!!! Good job I'm on unlimited texts eh....

Unlimited texts doesn't make any difference.

It is either:
a) Your SMS app. Check it's settings to see if it's splitting your texts

or

b) Your cell phone provider splits them automatically.

Texts are usually split at either 140 or 160 characters.

Ah...if it 140 - 160 then its me chatting a lot and making the text too long....
