Text input lag on websites

hey all,
im not sure if its just me here but have any of you Honeycomb 3.1 users noticed that there occasionally is a major lag between what you type on the keyboard to the text that gets inserted e.g. when creating a new or replying to a thread on this forum?

esp when using the backspace key, just feels like its struggling to keep up with the speed of the character input?

just wanted to gather the thoughts of other respective AEPT owners, ta!:)
 
Yes, it's really very annoying when this happens! Had this problem on the Xoom, the TF and also on the Tab 10.1 :mad:

I'm not buying another Android slate till they fix this!! I don't care how good and cutting edge the hardware specs are. If they can't make the OS smooth, its all garbage!

cool and thanks for the reply dude, just confirmed my suspisions. well in that case i will give the guys at the asus team an email with the issue, maybe they can get a fix out sooner than the main google team.

Open the stock web-browser and type "about:debug" in the adresse-bar. When selecting settings within the browser, this should give you access to a menu called "Degub". Uncheck the "Enable OpenGL Rendering" and this should speed things up when typing in forms in general. At least it did for me :D
 
Well lets test this bad boy out....crikey thats freaking amazing!!!!!! If i could give u more thanks i would! So need to note all these tweaks down on a sticky mods!
 
In one of the other threads, users reported speaking to Asus and being suggested that they format their microSD cards. They did it, and it fixed the lag.

Fixed the lag on the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 too!

Problem # 2 :p when I click the Login button on any forum and try to type within the user name or password field, the touch is registered on the banner ad behind the login screen (almost as if i was clicking the banner ad and not typing inside the username and.or password field ) :confused:

Also, when I click on the login button (on any forum) it takes a good 4-5 seconds for the username and password boxes to appear.

Anyone else experience this?
 
yeah i think i know what you mean, its like a form built in to a flash page or summin and not on the web page itself?

to be honest although its helped there still is a lil bit of lag between typing esp backspaces and space, its someting my 5 year old netbook doesnt suffer from, so why should this???

its something i shall be raising with Asus support.
 
so, here's an update from Asus Support:

"The keyboard lag is due to some of the sites using Java which is causing this. We suggest you use a task killer to kill some tasks to see if this improves it"

I saw task killer and kill some processes???? on a v3 build???? wtf??? pure lazyness from their part.

what should I reply with guys?

Seriously, though, kill processes? That's horrible.

I tried unchecking the enable OpenGL setting, but it didn't seem to make much difference for me. I find I have significantly less lag in DolphinHD and Opera, but it's still there.
 
well i did escalate this in the end, the reply back was more ....constructive? asked for a more detailed analysis of the issue and either a workaround or hotfix to resolve the issue. at and in its present state, some websites are unworkable. also asked for an approximate time in which they'll get something that resembles a fix for me, so hold this space (do wonder what the SLA times are for issues such as this)
 
its for any browser, inc firefox. anyone else want to confirm?

but anyways, besides using another browser, the question is why? why should i need to use another browser when the one provided by them is flawed? so if its flawed, they need to fix it, its what we've paid for at the end of the day.
 
yeah well my strongly worded reply back has basically told them to fix this and im not accepting half hearted excuses. its such a basic thing to get wrong imo and should be one of the first things to resolve
