text message history

RevTran

Newbie
I tried various apps to print out my text message history.

I am looking for an app. that will do my name, and the recipients name.

When I tried using Email my conversation, it had the full conversation, but my name did not appear; only theirs.

Any help/suggestions?

Thank you :)

You could us SMS Backup + (free in Play) to back up all your messages to your GMail account. From there you can print the message threads pretty easily.

I tried that, but my name didn't show up. It was their name in both locations.

Now when I tried re-opening the history, I'm now getting an error message! Ugh!

That's odd. I just check mine and it show my email address for message I sent and the contact's name for messages I received. You are in the GMail website, correct.

Are you talking about email or text messages?

Perhaps it is a phone setting?

All I want are both the numbers to show up LOL!

OK, I see a maybe wasn't clear enough.

SMS Backup + create an SMS folder in your Gmail account and backs up your SMS/MMs messages there. For me, I log into GMail on my PC and go to the SMS folder and select a conversation. It is there that I see my email address for messages sent from me and my Contact's name for messages I recieved. I'm not sure if there is a way to have the actual phone number show up for people you have in your contacts though.

For some reason, it doesn't back up to my gmail account.

I have my gmail settings set for that, but after the back up, I email it to my gmail.

I was never able to have it set on SMS pro to go directly to google.

Do you have any tips/directions as to how?

When you opened the app, it the tick mark next to "Connect" checked? I seem to remember having to log into GMail and give the app permissions. I don't remember what the screen looked like when I did that or I would describe it. I do remember that is was prompted the first time I tried to connect the app to my GMail account.

Also, I'm doing a backup now to make sure that everything still works the same. I hadn't done a backup since February.

Yes, it is connected.

When I go to backup, and I click "backup", it says there were no items to backup. When I go to backup settings, it says it was last backed up today; but it is not in my gmail.

After I went to backup log in my files, it says "no applications can perform this action".

Is there a way to back up an individual thread? If so, will it have both mine and their name stamped?

Are you checking here? Did it create this folder?

No offense with you asking! LOL!

Check under Advanced Settings | Backup Settings and make sure everything is checked in there. Would seem odd that they would leave anything off, but you never know.

Also, I asked some of the other staff members that use this if they have any ideas, so you may see some other folks chiming in.:stupido3:

I went to the main backup page, and I hit backup..nothing happened.

On a whim, I hit Restore, and I thought it was restoring, but it says "successfully restored 0 items".

Sounds like it doesn't recognize that you have messages on your phone. Are you using the stock messaging app?
