Text message notification sound

Hopefully someone can help, I have the S3 on tmobile, I have set the text message notification sound in the text message setting separately from the general notifications in settings, unfortunately when on a call I will hear the whistle notification sound as if a text has been received but there is no text message received, I have read other forums that have all been answered usually by another app causing the notification but this is not the case here since the default notification setting is set to off and this notification is text message specific, I am concerned that I may be missing texts so any input would be helpful

The whistle notification is the Default for the phone. It could be anything from a weather alert to Facebook or any other notification. If you have Notifications turned off in the main Setting you would not get a message notification. There is an app called Notification History that will log all notification that will help narrow down the culprit.

Thanks I downloaded the notification history app but it hasn't done it since then of course but I will see because the default notification is definitely set to silent the only one that plays a sound is the text messages set in the text message settings directly so I will see what happens
