Help text message notifications.

i get my messages but it doesn't make any sound. my gmail has the same ringtone and it works. but my texts don't. recently updated to ics but had this problem before the update. any ideas?:confused:

Question:

Stock SMS app or are you using a 3rd party?

Did you check under menu > sound to make sure you had the notification set?
 
As far as sms backup goes I'd uninstall and reinstall it.

For no sounds go to sms and push menu > settings > scroll to the bottom and make sure you have a tone set
