Just recently noticed that I don't receive texts from some people when they send to me individually, but when sent to multiple people, I receive them.

Why? and also do I need to change some settings?

What carrier are you with? Yesterday, Rogers/FIDO in Canada had a major outage.

Sounds like when they send to you in a group it is coming in over MMS. Individually it is SMS. You and perhaps them need to contact your carriers to troubleshoot it.
