Help Text notification too short

My last mobile phone was a Samsung D600, and when i received text messages the phone would beep at regular intervals until the message was read. On my new Orange San Francisco phone, there is a single notification and that is it. So i often miss the arrival of text messages. Is there any way to change this, so it behaves more like the Samsung phone?

if you download 'Handcent' or Go SMS or other sms apps you can customise them to give you a repeat notification
