Is it just me or does the new vibration when you get a text suck. I can't tell it apart from any other notification, but before lollipop I could easily tell apart a text from another notification because it vibrated differently!! This is extremely annoying and I hate my phone now because I get all excited for a text and it turns out to be a useless notification. LET ME KNOW IF YOU GUYS HATE THIS AS WELL BECAUSE I WANT THE OLD VIBRATIONS BACK

Try using a different SMS app? Textra allows you to set different vibration patterns.

Exactly this: it's the manufacturer who makes the change, especially since most replace the stock message app with their own, so your Lollipop need not be the same as someone else's.
And plenty of SMS apps let you specify the vibration pattern (though I'm happy to recommend Textra too!), so that's easy to fix. You never have to put up with what the manufacturer or carrier gives you if you don't like it

Or if you're happy with the stock sms app, you can hand off your notifications to the Light Flow app which let's you change vibrate pattern
