text plus free question

Hi All,
I have a Samsung Galaxy tablet, only a few days so not sure about most things. I would like to know if anyone has heard of text plus, free text plus calls from my tablet. Could this be true, free text and that calls to mobiles and landslides?. Sounds too good to be true.
Thank you,
Joan.

I've used text plus on my WiFi-only Galaxy Player for over a year. They gave me a free phone number in my area code for texting. I haven't tried their phone service, but text plus is great for a WiFi-only device that has no built-in phone or texting capability.

I have used the Google Voice and Talkatone combination when I was at a location where there was no cell signal, but did have WiFi access. It worked ok as temporary phone service.

If I understand correctly, text Plus only let's you call other TextPlus users. GV let's you calk anyphone within the U s

Thats wrong, text plus lets you text and call any number out there even in different countries. Texting is free but calling requires minutes which can be earned by doing offers thround the app or by purchasing them from the app. If you call someone that has textplus it does not use minutes and its free. The bad part to this app is that you cant receive mms messages, you can send them but you can get them. Thats means no pictures or long message receiving from regular phones. Again if someone has textplus and they send and mms through you will receive it though. Also the call quality in my opion sucks and the calls are prone to dropping. Youll find yourself asking hello? Hello? Are you there? But then it will work again and then later on it will happen again. In the in-call volume is much louder than the regular call voulme. There is also no voicemail feature included. I myself have used the app for months and well it gets the job done for me. But after looking at the app description in the playstore for the similar TextNow i wish i had used that app in the first place. It seems like it includes voicemail and you can receive mms messages. I havent tried that app but it seems to be a bit better. And its just like text plus. Ypu get a free number and you can use it to text and call the same way as TextPlus

Gotta love those posts that start with "That's wrong...".

Google Voice allows unlimited free calls to anyone within US. Text Plus does not.

I took the context (free) from the original post.... didn't see a need to repeat it since I assume op knows what he asked.

Thanks for your additional info.
