Text Prediction Questions

Recently while using my spouses cell phone I discovered a few concering words being offered by the auto-prediction feature. I know the words in question are not part of any default setting, and it may require us to have a serious discussion. Before I can do that though I need a little clarification about the auto-prediction feature.

Possible pertinent information:

  • Current Phone - HTC Thunderbolt (Refurbished)
  • Previous Phones - HTC THunderbolt (New), Droid (New)
  • Default Keyboard
  • Words in question are NOT in the devices personal dictionary
Questions:

  • Can anyone provide a general overview of how auto-prediction adds non-default words to it's queue? Specifically
  • Could the words in question have been in the auto-prediction due to some sort of account sync from a previous device or would they have to have originated in the current device?
  • Any other pertinent information about auto-predict and subsequent devices on a single number would be wonderful
My primary concern here is when the words in question were used. If they were used on the current device (spouse has only had about a month) then a serious discussion needs to take place. If the words might have been synced from a previous device then this has already been addressed and it may be water under the bridge.

Any additional information or a push in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. If you need more info or have other questions just let me know. Thank you for your help

With the impressive detailed information I've seen on other posts here I figured there were some really knowledgable people on these forums. If anyone could even give me a nudge in the right direction to locate this info that would be awesome.

I've tried searching the internet, but all I'm ever able to pull up is tons of "Autocorrect Fail" and "Autocorrect LOL" sites.

Autocorrect and word suggestion depends entirely on the keyboard, and well, I have no idea about HTC keyboards. Although in my experience with swype is that the more often used words appear first. IMO

I use Swiftkey.

there is a built in database of words that it use in general. (new users)
but it also adds in new words as it goes.

there was a post here a while back.. we all started with the same word.. and just selected the first suggested word it came up with (25 times).. we were all surprised at the all the different sentences it came up with and that we had never talked about these things before.

i was once driving to Houston from Dallas... just driving past "sam houston" statue. I was texting my friend... started with typing in "just"... it suggested the following: "now passing Sam Houston statue." I dont remember ever using that before..and did that use GPS to help predict it?

so, i would not know how to advise you in this.. i think you need a lot more to go on.
trust is a very important thing in a relationship.
