I let my one get to filled its at like 1100 and i try to delete it and my screen turns black I can still use therest of the phone just the messages app is frozen what do I do?

it will take a LONG time to delete. My recommendation is to hit delete right before you go to bed, and leave it on the charger, let it work its magic overnight, and hope it works. That's worked for other people

if your rooted and running on fresh rom you can use his kitchen to delete them all in one click very fast and effective....you can find it in the link in my sig

I don't think there's any cases of someone bricking their phone by rooting, or bricking it period. You can always load into the recovery console and do a complete restore that will bring your phone back to out-of-the box condition.

Just read up on it quite a bit before doing anything. Make sure you don't delete necessary apps (there's a list on XDA), etc.

Can u give me a link to a site that will literally tell me everything I need to know about rooting flashing ROMs and the recovery thing.

After a friend had a similar problem, I wrote an app to help with deleting.

There is visual feedback of the process - so you know the phone is actually deleting the messages rather than hanging / force close.

The app is called "Delete old messages" from JADS Limited.
Its on the android market free of charge.

Hope it helps
