Texted pictures coming to me in slideshow format

Does anyone know why when someone texts me multiple pictures, they end up being a slideshow on my end? Every time anyone sends pics to me, unless all they sent was 1, the pics get turned into slideshows that make it so I can't interact with them...like, say, zoom in on them. They weren't sent as slideshows.

Yeah, that's annoying isn't it?

Change your text app from stock to something like Textra, Verizon Messenger, Google Messenger, Hangouts...almost anything works so much better!

A lot of messaging apps include options for how incoming MMS should be displayed. Poke around in your app's settings to see if that's A Thing Which Can Be Set, otherwise check out one of the alternatives that @Clementine_3 suggested.

I'm not entirely positive but I don't think you can change that, it's a 'feature'. I haven't used it in forever so could be very wrong though. I just know the kid was complaining about it and now that he's using something else he's all happy.
