Help texting annoyance. ..

One thing that I noticed from this phone, nexus one, is that you, the user, can not select people from your contacts when writing a text.. you would have to first go through your contacts and then choose one specific person to text... how would you do a mass text message... I want to have the choice of selecting who I want to receive the text after I write it... has any one felt the same way?? Has some tried to solve this "problem"

I haven't used the stock app for ages but I believe you can just keep adding people to the "to" field by starting to type their name.

Regardless, I (and many others) recommend the Handcent app which is far superior.

I also thought That I would be able to just type in the name.. its a simple method that many smart phone companies use... well I didn't want to have a download an application so I could text... is there something I could change in my settings that would help solve the problem.

You can! I've just tried it...

Hit the "to" field.

Start typing a name and a drop down will be shown.

Select the name.

Hit the "to" field again and repeat.

You will then be able to make a list of names as you wish.

The trick is to start off with the New Message - Compose New Message option in the messaging app. You'll see once you've typed the first person's name in and selected their number, it puts a comma after it, so you can just continue to add more names in.

If you've come to the message composition screen from your contact, you have to manually put a comma in between the various numbers you want to text.

Okay from what i hear it can be done, but for some reason every time i type in one of my contacts name it puts in the numbers associated with the letters of their name and then i says invalid number....
Im thinking that maybe the contacts that i have a in my sim rather then my phone so that might be the problem?? Any opinions

The problem is your contacts numbers you want to text are not set as a mobile number hence why the N1 isn't giving you the option to text. Change that in your contacts and it will pick it up the contact after you type the 3rd letter you type.

Technically I'm not, my IQ's 'only' 142, I missed Genius by 8 ha ha but yeah that problem foxed me too when I transferred my contacts till I searched the solution.
