Texting directly from Tab 4

Hello, all. Finally made the plunge and got my first tablet, Tab 4. It has LTE and its own phone number (AT&T), but I can't seem to find a texting app that will use the tab's own number and connection to text. Everything either wants to do it through the net or link to my phone. I'd like them to operate independently. Thoughts?

What's wrong with the stock messages app? I have a Tab 4 with T-Mobile, and while I don't really "need" to text with my tablet, it works good enough.
