Texting Issues w/X10

Schism

Newbie
Hi,

I'm having a small issue (more of an annoyance) that I can't figure out how to fix.

I have Android 2.1 and love it.
This problem has happened recently, but has not been happening since I upgraded a month ago - it's only started about two weeks ago.

Whenever I send a text message, what I type appears in the box. As it should.
I hit 'Send'.
When I go back to text that same person, my LAST typed message is still in the box, even though it was sent.
I then have to erase it in order to type a new message.
This happens about 90% of the time - sometimes it doesn't happen at all.

I've also noticed a hell of a lag in my texting 'program'. Not so much the whole system, jsut when texting. If I hit the 'back' button to go back to the main screen, for instance, I get that little twirling circle and the waiting prompt for ages sometimes, just to move back and forth within the program.

Any ideas for either issue?

Thanks!

I seem to get those problems too. The only way I can get it not to lag is to reboot the phone every 3 or 4 days when it really starts to bother me. As for the text staying in the box, I don't know how to fix that. Maybe someone else will be able to shed some light on that problem. I also use the HTC IME keyboard but I don't think that is the problem.

I found deleting conversations helps with lag. I had a txt conversation going back about 3 weeks with Mrs. After I deleted that, it seemed to improve.

Are you using the default keyboard? Maybe try changing it (hold down on the empty txt box and it will come up asking for you to change input)

Hasn't ever happened to me.

I suggest downloading NetQin Mobile Guard and take a look at what applications are running in the background and how much memory they are using. Close some useless one's....they will slow things down and make it lag.

Are you using the default txt application? Have you tried using Timescape to txt to see if it is any different? Or do you only notice this happening if you use Timescape.

the only problem i am having using handcent is sometimes i start typing and it goes berzerk on me and starts typing something like 'aaaafffffhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh'. when all i tried to type was 'dad' lol. but thats very rare.

I still suck at hitting the letters with me fingers. its been over 2 months i have had this phone since upgrading from a full physical qwerty pad and i suck still. i thought by now i would be way better. what should be the learning curve for an all touch key pad? 3 months? 6? i heard from eyephone users it took them a while to type effeciently but serious, i still suck. good thing for auto-correct

I had the text staying in the box as well with the default app. I switched over to Handcent and then to GoSMS, and that problem didn't exist with either app.
