My partner and I both got new S3's about 8 weeks ago. We are on AT&T. Since getting the phones, we have not been able to properly text each other. If I send a text to his phone, it comes through as an email and comes from my.number@txt.att.com His replies come to me from his.number@mms.my.cingular.com or his.number@txt.att.com. (We had phones about 6 years ago with Cingular before they were bought out by Bellsouth and then AT&T This was the address that we had to use to send pics from the old Moto Razrs to the computer.) The texts do not form a thread, but show as separate emails and are numbered sequentially- 140010001, 140010002, 140010003, etc. This only happens between us, texts to anyone else are handled in a normal fashion.
We have gone through the contacts and removed all previous contacts, then added new contacts with just the phone numbers. We have removed all previous contacts from the SIM cards. Nothing has worked.
We went to an AT&T store yesterday. The man there, who seemed to have some knowledge, was stumped. He called AT&T support, who contacted Samsung Tech support. Samsung, of course said that we had to do a Master reset. While this may solve the problem, or may not, I still have no idea, nor do they, as to the cause of this. (AT&T said that they would replace the phones, if this did not work.) I can't think of anything else to do, from our end, before doing the reset.
Has anyone heard of this problem occurring on other phones? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I would rather try a few other things before doing the Reset. Thanks,
Matt
