Yes this appears to be a problem world wide and might be a firmware issue. In australia my 32gb sgs3 does the same. I suggest you download an app called swiftkeyx which will have its own dictionary for you to add and won't wipe whe you turn the phone off as is the current case. Hopefully the dim wits at Samsung will figure it out and solve the issue with a firmware update.
