Help Texting SUCKS

I have had nothing but trouble with texting since Froyo release. Its laggy all the time and non responsive at times! Is there any fix for this?

Yea I just picked up my Evo the other day and this keyboard flies. Very responsive and typing on it is a pleasure. Have you tried downloading that new update we received? I believe its an OTA update

I also have not had an issue. But maybe another keyboard would help you out? There are several on the market, XDA has some. I used Swype for a while but I never received the updated e-mail for the beta, I switched over to shapewriter which I really like better than swype. But I digress...

The only time I notice poor responsiveness is when I have haptic feedback enabled. After several hours I will start to get terrible lag as I type. It's like the vibrate effect is having trouble keeping up with the key taps. Once haptic feedback is turned off I have no problem.

I use swiftkey on the EVO and swype on the Epic. While swype is definitely better than any non-swype keyboards, swiftkey is definitely the next best thing.

Um, anyone thought to check to see how many messages you have in the conversations? Mine gets a bit buggy after about 1000 messages... Just clear some old ones and you are good to go.

Never experienced this. You should def.. try another keyboard like other have suggested.

This is likely the problem. Mine lags (and no, I'm not using the standard android keyboard... I'm using swype). When I delete the larger threads (some were up to 3,000... and I have one that's around 5,000 that still won't delete :o) it's zippy again.

Haha you sound like me.
I had a few threads up around 4000. And i went through a few days of resetting and wiping, so i may be up around 5000 too.
Rarely do you go back and read something that far (takes too freakin long to get there) so i think just keep those long threads deleted.
I deleted the long ones because of this problem too.

The only problem I have with my texting is that sometimes I will text someone and then in the screen it will show what the person responded after what I texted, it will show it before and then my text after. Does anyone understand what I'm saying?

Might be a dumb question, but what is "haptic feedback"?

Haptic feedback it the slight vibration you feel when you press the keys on the screen. Since there are no actual keys, the idea of haptic feedback is to give you the sense of touch or resistance when typing like you would get on a physical keyboard. It's also used in game controllers such as the xbox 360. The controller will bump or vibrate to give you a tactile sense of in game actions such as being hit.

I have my haptic feedback off, so it doesn't vibrate when I text or email, yet it still does when i use the calculator or dial pad to make a call... is there a way to turn that OFF?

What I hate the most is that when I select a corrected/predicted word it automatically enters a period and starts a new sentence. The other annoyance is that if I type "U" or "R" it won't auto insert You or Are...

How large are your text message threads with each person? My messaging got extremely laggy because i reached 10500 texts with one person and 6000 with another. If your threads are extremely long, the app will definitely start lagging and will suck. Take the time to delete your threads and set it to a limit of 200.

Seeing as though his problem WAS OVER A YEAR AGO... I would hope he has it figured out.
