Texting with tablet

I want an app that allows me to control my phone's SMS app so I can send and receive messages via my Nexus 7. I know Verizon has one, but it's hardly a pleasant app. Suggestions?

I would suggest looking into AirDroid, you could see if it works with a tablet browser.

You could get a Google Voice number and use that number to forward your calls to your mobile device. Using GV will allow you to send/receive messages via your web browser.

Tablet Talk works well (you can connect to your phone via Bluetooth or WiFi) or you can use Google Talk (which forces you to use their voicemail service along with their SMS feature however)

I have used Tablet Talk which connects to your phone via Bluetooth. I also use Verizon.

An alternative for texting by wifi is an app like TextPlus. You are assigned a unique phone number for this purpose. I added a signature so those unfamiliar with the phone number know it is coming from me.

I like tablet talk because it uses your phone's number. I hardly use my phone at home, unless to answer a call (which tablet talk notifies me of).

i just installed google voice, have used it in the past, one good feature is that you can give out that number and have it sent elsewhere, good for giving your number to peeps yoy dont know, after the Giants beat Pitt i will try tablet talk

HeyWire is another the wife uses it on her N7, but Tablet talk is what you want if you want to text from the same number from your mobile device from your N7
