TextPlus

Okay so I have a mytouch 4g, as everyone knows, the battery life isn't good at all on this phone. Anyway, my phone's service is off as of now, I downloaded the textplus app yesterday. I understand wifi has to be on in order for you to use it. But what I wanna know is, say if I turn wifi off when I don't use my phone(when i'm in class) would i get the text notifications while my wifi is off and just not be able to text back.? Or would i get them as soon as i connect to wifi and click on the textplus app.? Or would I only receive the texts that are sent to me while I'm connected to wifi..

I can be connected to wifi at all times on campus, but again, my battery dies fast which is why i'm not really willing to leave wifi on when I'm not in my dorm.

Use Airplane Mode when you're in class, etc. No connections of any sort except GPS. But since you're not going anywhere I'd recommend not only to switch to Airplane Mode when you're in class, but to switch off the whole phone altogether. Saves battery too.
Afterwards, when you switch on the phone or switch off Airplane Mode, SMS, voicemail, and email messages will be downloaded to your phone within a minute.

So, i downloaded the new update (I had a really old one) and for some reason, everyone I've ever emailed was automatically entered into my TextPlus contacts. Some of these people aren't in my actual contacts so I can't just delete them.
Actually, you can. Gmail does the same thing. Within your address book (i.e., Contacts app) there should be a setting for "Only contacts with phones." It sounds like you have that checked (I do). Temporarily uncheck it, then they should be visible in Contacts, which will now allow you to delete them. Note however that unless there is a setting to disable this in Text+, it will happen again (unless you also disable sync for Text+ after removing the unwanted contacts).

And for future reference, it's better to start your own thread with a targeted title, instead of reviving a 2.5yo thread like this one. :)
