My recently purchased S4 just started failing to send texts a few days ago. I read other comments and threads about this issue. I tried some of the things mentioned. Here's what I've found so far. Network mode, in the setting menu, seems to reset it self to "Global" mode. I keep having to set it back to LTE/CDMA to "fix" the issue. I haven't had major problems with failing to find a 4G signal. It's done it once, and I rebooted the phone and fixed it. My S3 did this very thing quite often too..and that was really my only gripe with my old S3. I had to often reboot to get it from being stuck on 3G, and finding 4G networks.
