THE browser to have....

My $.02...

My wish list: LastPass integration, incognito browsing, adblock, desktop view

Built-in, 4.0 browser
Overall it is pretty nice, and fast. It has incognito browsing, desktop view, but no LastPass integration. Also, when I bring it to work and connect to the guest wifi network that requires a "we're not liable, blah, blah, blah" confirmation page, ALL of the tabs that I have open get refreshed and therefore show that page. Essentially, if I don't save those tabs before I get to work, I lose them - that's a big minus.

Firefox
Slowest of the browsers that I have tried. It does have LastPass and adblock extensions, but I also don't like the large amount of space reserved on the left for the tabs and I couldn't find a way to turn that off. I also couldn't find a way to get a desktop version of the page, and there is no incognito mode

Opera
Fast, but no extensions means no adblock, no LastPass, etc. I also didn't see an incognito mode here either

Dolphin HD
Yes, I read about the "tracking" controversy and I'm over it. It is fast, it has many extensions including LastPass and desktop view. It does not have an incognito mode that I know of, nor an adblock extension. Best of all, it does not refresh every tab when I get to work - just the main tab being displayed.

Have I missed anything? Are there any browsers that I haven't tried that satisfy those four requests?

Thanks!

There doesn't seem to be a setting on Chrome to force the desktop version of sites. All I keep getting is the mobile versions. Is there something I'm missing?

That is why this won't replace Opera Mobile for me as the default, but I am liking Chrome so far. Very nice and stable for a beta.

After the update that came out today, it seems the stock browser works significantly better. Smooth as can be and very quick. I think they knew Chrome was coming out and made some improvements!

I have my Prime for 2 days and everything is still very new to me - not only because of the device itself but with using android for the 1st time.

Finding a good browser is very important for me... and so far I have no good result. In fact, instead of coming to a good result, some doubts/ problems popped up:

- Biggest problem: flash online streaming! I tried to watch some anime series (Bleach episode on AnimeSeason.com) and it wouldn't work. Dalphin HD started to load the flash player, but it was SOOOOOOO laggy that it's impossible. I was in the same room with the router and I didn't notice a disconnect. When I clicked the online stream "sapo player", it wouldn't even load... I have the Adobe Flash player downloaded... still nothing.

Is there any browser that is able to play this? Or do I need to install something else?

- Dolphin HD was working well, and I was beginning to like it, then it crashed :( I had selected the desktop option. Was that correct? Should I have put the Ipad option?

Please advise a Android Tablet nOOb!

Thanks

Have you tried Boat Browser? It is very smooth. Also, be sure to get the update that came out today as it improves the stock browser performance. You can test this web site with these to see how it goes.

The boat browser I haven't tried yet, but will do so once I get home from work. Update will start automatically or will I need to go on the settings?

Well I will see... hope that this does the trick. The prime is such a nice device, but if for some reason I can't watch my flash streams etc. with it, then it's no good for me :(

Thanks a lot, I will let you know if:

a) problem solved :D
b) I will give Prime back :(
c) get so frustrated with it that I will throw it against the wall

If the update notification does not come up, you can get it under settings>about tablet.

Try several browsers before you through the Prime tot he wall. I've had no problems with Flash, so far. :) You can also try different settings for the browsers (desktop, Android, etc.).

I'm at work so haven't heard about an update. We got another one?

I've found that Maxthon plays Flash video very well. Opera Mobile with the latest update will play Flash too. Also dittos to the advice to make sure you are updated. There have been a lot of improvements to the Prime since it first came out, via firmware updates. Plus, you want to make sure you are running the latest Android OS, Ice Cream Sandwich (version 4.xx). By checking for new updates as Treknolgogist suggests to you, you will get the latest OS and firmware.

Ok, so i tried the following:
- android 4.0 - check
- suggested browsers - boat seems to be the best... however when i put the video on fullscreen, it freezes
- todays update - not available for ME yet :(

Can someone try to go on Watch Bleach 359 - Naruto Shippuuden 247 | AnimeSeason.com and randomly try to watch a flash file, like bleach for example? For me to know if there is hope or not...

Thanks a lot

I was able to watch for several minutes with clear, smooth picture. No stuttering. I used the stock browser. I'm fully updated, including today's update that I just installed about an hour ago. The sound was good too, except I don't understand a lick of what they are saying.

PTPrime, I tried to watch the video as well and I had no problem either. I used ICS+ browser and Boat Browser to do the test. I also did a full screen test with no problems.

ah see this is something i am very interested in.

I was having loads of issues playing anime form propriety imbedded flash players on sites like animecrazy on my prime.

The stock browser is the only one that works. just have to make sure I hit fullscreen right at the start of the episode and not try and rewind or skip forward too far, (sometimes I can but other time it crashed the browser).

Will update later if im able and test to see how much of a difference the update makes.

Netherdragon, have you been able to watch the flash animes you tried to?
As for the updates, until now it was for US only, or so I read/ heard.

Well, I have brought my prime back to the store... I really liked it a lot and it was hard for me bringing it back, but the weak wifi was not acceptable for me. With my huawei x5 phone I can be in my bed (other side of the apartment and from the router) and surf the internet, and with the prime I had serious problems. This is not acceptable for a new device, which costs a lot of money. Now I'm waiting for a new device... probably the transformer prime tf700t. Not so much because of the screen, but for the wifi and all the other issues that they need to fix from the tf200t.

I was using dolphin but switched to Google chrome beta. I have had no problems with chrome at all and switching in between normal mode and incognito mode is just awesome. I have fast browsing as well.
