The Droid cost me my truck...

Hey guys, funny thread, gave me some much needed laughs. But in the future can we try and keep this stuff in the lounge? Thanks, no hard feelings.

Ouch. I sort of feel your pain.... but not really. I very nearly dodged a bullet - or to be more accurate, was slightly grazed by one.

Before Halloween, I was out in the Santa Cruz mountains driving to an obscure winery, on Skyline Boulevard (for those in the SF Bay) at around 20 mph over the limit. I have my lights on, it's a nice dry day, the road's empty, the lovely burble of the engine in 4th gear at 60, and OH CRAP A DEER!

Smashed on the brakes, and fortunately this deer was a smart one. It saw me coming and it started running. I bumped it at about 5 mph. It sprawled to the ground. It laid there for about 3 seconds, then popped up. Looked around, then galloped off. As for me, I drove off and pulled off at the next turn off to inspect the damage. I had a minor bump on the bumper, and a scratch on a headlight. That was it. Whew.

I feel your pain. It's quite an adrenaline rush.

Look at it this way.You would feel even worse if you where on your way to the woods to do some hunting? I would!

or,you could have been on a motorcycle and hit the son of B#%$@,then you would be in the hospital.

I say these two because the very top one happened to my oldest brother not once, but twice in 3 months.

The second happened to my friend on his way to our fire station and it broke him up like a stick..compound breaks in legs and arms.

I am happy to hear you are safe. The metal can be replaced but you can`t my friend!!

Please visit the developer suggestion forum. I'm sure we can get someone to make a google earth app which scans the road for deer and texts you to slow down.

(if only GE was RT...)
