The end of ghost lines?

A certain employee of a multi-carrier authorized retailer told me some interesting news that she claims her boss had found out from some "invite only" blogs or sites.

Supposedly, Verizon will stop allowing people to upgrade a phone line and then swap the phone to a different line. I know they did this already with tablets and phones.

Any truth to this or just another rumor?

I don't know, but when I called in through vzw chat, they told me I could do it for the entire family plan keeping my unlim. I'm not sure I want to though.
