The Flood Gates are opening

I have a feeling that with this new phone (barring a disaster like the triumph) there are going to be a lot of VM users moving into the neighborhood. The Optimus V has served me very well with an ICS ROM in beta stage and the VERY stable Backside IHO ROMs.

The 1V is priced at what many paid for their original optimus Vs and I am sure many (like me) have been quietly waiting for a new faster phone to sink their teeth into. Almost double (unrooted) processing power, loads more storage, better display...what's not to like.

I can't wait to make the jump in the coming weeks. I have a feeling it is gonna be a hell of a ride.

I just bought this phone from VM. Dumping the Triumph after four horrendous experiences with it. I really hope this is a better phone than that piece of junk.

Looking at your phone list:

Intercept -> Triumph

I hope you have more luck with this phone.

The Intercept was slow, yes, but as my first Android phone, it was not an entirely unpleasant experience. The Triumph, however, was pure s**t.

I was originally planning to save up $300 to get it when it came out, but the combination of great dev work on my optimus V and all the problems I read about on the triumph stopped me. Thankfully.

I've been waiting for this HTC One V for months now because I knew I wanted another phone and I did not want to buy an EVO that was already a year old.

Please lemme know how the phone handles.

I'm brand new here, but I got the One V for 4 days now, it's a great phone. It's my first Android phone and ICS is a charm to use. It's actually my first Smart phone.

I can confirm that only 1gb is left, but it's not an issue for now. There's a micro sd card slot, so it's easy to add more space.

I'll sure keep an eye on all those custom Rom talks!

are you familiar with flashing roms/recoveries? I might have a couple tests for you as my phone won't be delivered till monday.

I never rooted any android device, but I did my fair share of "jailbreak" (and modding) on IOS. I'm quite tech savvy (programmer as a living) so it shouldn't be a problem.

For now I'll keep the phone "unrooted" for at least 2 weeks. It's the Koodo limit for no fee exchange/reimbursement, but the phone need to be as received.

I read it's not possible to re-lock the bootloader, is that true ?

The same things can be said for the Optimus Elite on Virgin Mobile, and it's only $130...exactly what I paid for my OptimusV last fall.

Have you compared the OneV versus the Elite? (The Elite's CPU runs@1ghz in real life).

Well the issue really is I would rather have an HTC product than any other. Especially Sammy and lg products. I hate those and will never buy them. I have always been a HTC whore and always will be. $70 is not that big of a deal with similar phones. Nfc I have never and never will use. Gorilla glass I don't care about either as I take care of my phones and use screen protectors.

Google Wallet is giving Elite owners $25 for signing up also...so the price difference becomes $95. :D

Either way still worth the price diff than buying a product that the development support from manufacture sucks

The Elite has an MSM8655. Its a great processor. Other MSM8655 phones (such as the DInc2, Evo 4G Design, Thunderbolt, etc) are usually clocked at 1-1.2 ghz.

Yes mine also clocked in at 1024 MHz!! I was wondering why I was able to run a N64 emulator playing Mario 64 on my phone! This phone keeps getting better and better. I can't wait to see how much this processor can be overclocked as soon as someone finds a way to root it.

Yes gang, is your new Elite running at 1GHz? Mine is...

Discovered when running Quadrant that it identified my phone as being 1024MHz, not 800 as advertised.

Wrote about this over on XDA and a guy said that Quadrant must have been fooled and suggested I try Antutu. Guess what...1024mhz... He still doubted it, moved on to CPU Performance.... 1024MHZ.

Is your phone 1GHz also? That is why it works better than you would expect a 800MHz phone to work...
