The front facing camera obsession?

I dont understand why people complain so much about phone not having front facing cameras on networks that dont support video calling. How often do you take pictures of yourself? Even if you had one i am willing to be you would use it a few times shortly after you got the phone and then almost never again.. Not flaming anyone for wanting it im just sayin..

I agree, I'm not into it either. Its not a good selling point for me.
To top it off I think you need to be connected to wifi to use it while chatting.

Well you gotta start somewhere. Video chat isn't gonna take off if there aren't front facing cameras.

That's what they said about cellphones before they came along, and they said the same thing about pagers too.

Some people will never want change.

Thats not what i was saying... Let me make it even more simple. If you can use it for video calling you probably wont use it that much so it shouldnt be a deal breaker. Get it now?

Who's to say you wouldn't use it that much?

Tech advancement is always a plus in my book.

Exactly! I never thought I'd be using data and text when I had my dumb phones before that only made calls, nor did I ever think I'd use the phones to take pictures because I thought I'd always have my digital camera with me.

It's dumb to assume that one will never use a feature just based upon past experiences.

You obviously missed the point of the thread when i started it.

Could someone please close this?? Thank you.

This thread is on-topic, I don't see anything wrong.

I love having a front-facing camera but hate that I can't utilize as much as I want to because of crap software (fring and Qik).

You can video chat on 3G, Wifi or 4G.

Some crafty cell phone accessory manufacturer will come out with some snap-on gizmo with a couple of mirrors that let you skype on the Droid X.
