I was talking about the automatic fly-out on hover. It's new in 18.1. I'd rather click to open.
18.1 is only Beta right now. It should be official any day now.

oh, I have that "feature" turned off thank you.

I agree, click on it to open it up..... otherwise, it is a royal pain in the ass

It was released yesterday. Updated my Sarah to Serena in only minutes from the command line on my main Linux box. While not the best distro for the diehard Debian folks, it's WAY better than Windows. Fixed a minor issue that I had while scrolling in Firefox too

So you're a Debian? How about Linux Mint Debian Edition?

Also, I don't suppose you'd like to share the aforementioned command line? The "Internet" says we won't be able to do that until months end.

Actually I'm not, but some prefer the latest (non-Ubuntu core) package(s)/updates. Thanks for the link tho

Credits go to poster Yousif Anwar over here. I just copy/pasted his commands in a terminal.

sudo sed -i 's/sarah/serena/g' /etc/apt/sources.list.d/official-package-repositories.list
Press Enter.
Then you update the packages list:
sudo apt-get update
Then you perform the actual upgrade:
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

I recall needing to do similar when I upgraded my 17.x to 18 (though it took much longer).

I don't think Mint 18.1 is ready for Android building.. So much grief. Actually demanded I edit my kernel a specific way and when I did, it won't build right. Same exact files I built perfectly fine on 17.3.. Going back to 17.3 tomorrow [emoji36]

you just talked me out of changing from 17.3 to 18.1
here I was thinking it is the "new Cat's Meow" and come to find out, 17.3 is still a great OS to keep using.

It is a beautiful OS without a doubt. If I wasn't trying to compile Android, I'd still be using it. It's perfect in all the ways that don't matter to building. [emoji41] I really hate the non cosmetic overhaul tho, borked the most crucial aspects of my needs.. A stable build environment for someone who doesn't know enough to deal with this new Picasso style coding. [emoji23] (I say Picasso only because I don't understand it and like the new Mint, I'm certain it has it's misunderstood/unknown advantages.)

Ooh that's a deal breaker for me. But I still maintain that Ubuntu 16.04 LTS is one superb O/S. Does absolutely everything I need.

Someone has managed to find a workaround for the one feature I want to keep in KDE, so I may install Mint 18.1 KDE again and try it out.

I have never tried any of the desktops except for Cinnamon.

What is it about KDE that draws you to it?

I like having multiple desktops with different wallpapers and shortcuts on each. KDE 4.x has this, but the developers eliminated it in 5.

Sure, I could live without it, but I'd rather have it. The xfce desktop allows the separate wallpapers (and the built-in file manager, thunar, has the best mass-rename function for music files), but KDEs Plasma desktop is much more flexible.

I get to do another set-up, install software, import data... all the fun stuff.

LOL, that will definitely not fit into my laptop.

I have enough space, just not a fan of having to reinstall a bunch of applications, add-ons, reconfigure things, etc.

There are some compelling reasons to move up to the latest KDE: Bluetooth for a start: my MX Master will not work with Mint 17.x and the xfce I am using right now doesn't work with my headset.

I am asking myself right now why I insist on using separate Documents folders for each OS. Talk about unnecessary copying of data...

I saw that and had a "Good Lord!" moment. I have a 480 GB SSD for my OS's and one dedicated 1Tb Spinner for /home and another for D:\
Talk about confusing, but I did think about the possibility of a 5Tb.... briefly.

For USB tether, you won't need an app if you're running Custom OS (CM, AOSP) on your device.. Just enable in settings. For stock, I use USBTetherPro.apk ..pretty good.
