the new N10

You haven't had to call Samsung for Nexus 10 support, that's the only reason you say that.

And no, there is no new Nexus 10 yet.

And ASUS support has a positive reputation? You end up calling the same call center in India, send the device off for the same 3+ week time period and hope they actually fix the problem.

At least Samsung give a rats behind about QC.

Well, now that CES is almost over, and there's still no announcements of a new N10, I'm beginning to lose hope of there ever being a new N10.

I was keen to buy a 10" tablet back in November, but held off just in case a new N10 was going to be announced. Since this is unlikely to happen anytime soon, what are people's thoughts on alternative 10" tabs to go for?

Original N10? New Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 (whenever that gets released; although I'm not keen on TouchWiz, to be honest)? Anything else out there that people would recommend? Asus Memo Pad FHD?

I am keen on a Nexus (since I have a Nexus 7 (2012) already and like the vanilla experience), but wonder if the current N10 will soon get a bit long in the tooth. I'm not adverse to owning a non-Nexus tablet.

Back when the Nex 10 first came out, I was going to wait for the Cell version, but a few weeks later decided not to. I would be still waiting. When I installed Kit Kat, the sucker now runs faster than it did when I got it.
