The Official "I got my Note 7!" First Impressions Thread

Thanks for the Spen video. Some of my air commands were missing and I didn't realize it. They were just not selected and it was an easy fix. Also, some of them I didn't know how to use. Now I do and they are way cool!

I thought something was missing, but I couldn't place it until this article reminded me... ACTION MEMO!

http://phandroid.com/2016/08/25/act...alaxy-note-7-next-month-did-you-even-miss-it/

Coming in September!

Wasn't Action Memo integrated into S-Note before? I'm really trying to figure out what the thought process is when it comes to the note taking software. When they changed S Note from the Note 2 tothe Note 3, it was not compatible and old S-Notes had to be converted on the new version. Then, they had action memo which was separate and apart from S Note. Then, they integrated Action Memo into S Note. There whole approach to the software became more and more confusing. Whoever is running that portion of software development must think way differently than others. It's because of all the inconsistencies, that I completely switched to using Microsoft's One Note. I prefer the interface on One Note as supposed to Evernote because it actually does make logical sense and it's very easy to organize and keep clean/neat, when differentiating between important notes to keep and throw away notes.

In any event, the last straw for me was when syncing was not working between my Note 10.1 (2k14) and my Note 3. Microsoft's OneNote sync's SO much better and I can use that on my PC/laptop without there being any major changes to the UI looking on a cpu vs. android device.

Here's one thing that's bothering me. Is there a "special" way to register fingerprints so that there isn't any issues of not identifying, when you place your finger on it? All the reviews talk about how great the fingerprint sensor is on Samsung phones, but in my experience so far, my Mate 8 absolutely destroys identification of fingerprints as compared to the Note7. I've had more mis-reads on the Note7, than the entire time I've had the Mate 8 since January. Biggest reason I find the Mate 8 to be way better is it actually turns the phone on and there's no need to press the power button. On the Note7, you have to hit the power button first and then keep your finger on the home button to register. It's a minor difference, but still one more step that I haven't had to do on the Mate 8

If anybody has any suggestions on how to get the fingerprint reader to identify fingerprints better, I'd love to get suggestions.

Booo! Okay, so there's definitely one thing that I've discovered that is not giving me a good first impression. The S-Pen identification is not backwards compatible. My Bamboo Wacom stylus, designed to work with the Samsung Note series, is not being recognized on the Note7. I haven't tried my other pens, but I'm thinking the situation might be the same there as well. They must have changed something with Wacom identification too.

I'm so excited.. Finally have movement on my UK preorder.

Hum, I would say 50/50 , good and bad. Some fly thru some can't get anywhere soon. So how is customer service from Samsung side of the messy part? Seems like carriers and retails are passing on to the next guy to fix the problems.
And then us ,that are waiting for ours , hopefully are not getting those already redeem screwed up:wtfdroid::wtfdroid:

Everything I have read convinces me that the Note 4 is Best of Crop.
I am staying with my Note 4.

It does not get slower with age, the user is the problem, not the device.
I agree about the note 4, it is the best yet. Why trade a great phone for lots of problems seems like. And pay 900 $ to boot, it does the same stuff , N7 is beautiful but got to put so much protection around you can't see the phone, hidden beauty, same functions .

I'm really confused about your complaints of scratches and pock marks. It appears to me that you haven't taken the cheap plastic packaging film off of your phone and complaining that it's not providing protection from the S-Pen. That is not screen protector quality and there's obviously lint beneath the film that you indicate are 'pock' marks outlined in the photos. I believe your expectations with this aspect of the phone are not justifiable.
Most likely you are not the first owner. refurbished phone after 1st owner returned it.

I just finished chatting with Samsung, and there is currently NO WAY to sideload Samsung Cloud and replace the stupid Verizon Cloud on VZW Note 7s. I'm hoping someone will eventually post the app to apkmirror. It's ridiculous that Samsung allows carriers to have such clout over what is, and is not, included on their devices.

Verizon also disabled the " device maintenance app" You have to install the old version of Samsung plus to get some resemblance to the new one that Verizon disabled.

I loved my Note4, but the 64GB storage and better fingerprint scanner and camera is enough to make me want to upgrade - that and the fact that my Note4 doesn't seem to hold a charge well despite trying with multiple batteries. But even if my Note4 wasn't showing signs of impending demise, I think I'd just want to move on. There are things that I'll never see on my Note4 - wifi calling, animated gif capture, etc. Those things aren't important to everyone so people who don't see the reason to upgrade shouldn't feel the need to. It hasn't even been 2 years since the Note4 was released. But if people want to upgrade, I think they have a lot of reasons to want to do so.

I also traded my N4 in for the N7. That was tough because I loved the N4! I must say that so far (2 days) I am loving this phone. Display is much better IMO. I haven't had any issues from above ..YET, but we'll see. My iris scanner works perfectly and quick, I really like this feature so far. I'll keep up with the thread and will post any future issues I may have and assist with others if possible.

This Note7 is going back before its too late.

Despite the awesome advancements since the old (Note4) days.....

Samsung and Google still seem to get in the way every time. VERY SCARRY shit "happens" on every single everyday use case, app install, or simple customization!

I'll stick with my sorry ass Nokia Lumina 950XL Windows Phone with uninterrupted live tiles and Outlook, Bing, OneNote, Cortana, etc. that all sync perfectly across my desktops, laptops, tablets, gaming consoles, etc.

I just can't get past the simplicity of a Windows phone vs. total submission of my entire life to Samsung and Google at the OS and individual application level. Been there, done that.

Enjoy All - Great hardware!

I owned my Note 4 for 2 years (bought it when they came out) and I transferred everything over to the Note 7, the Note 7 is quicker. I can understand trying to convince yourself that the Note 4 is just as capable to justify not spending $800+ on a new device, but trying to convince yourself that the Note 4 is just as fast, the hardware specs don't back up that assertion. You might as well try to convince me that the Corvette or the Mustang from 2 generations ago (90s versions) are just as capable as the current versions.

But if it makes you feel better, I'll say that the Note 4 is 7/10ths the device that the Note 7 is, which is actually a compliment considering the device has been on the market for 2 years.

i love note 7, and i got two. one is for me ,and the other one is for my wife. Luckily, i got two almost free review products from Amazon shop @Topist facebook pages. love the delicate note 7 cases.

Oooh yes look what came to me today (early in the uk) . Not played with the vr yet but am in love with the phone.. Not found any issues at all in the first few hours. Fast charging fine via wall. Can't find a dedicated video player app but plenty to grab free. I'm absolutely in love. Gonna play around for a bit get the hang of the new menus.

I got my Note 7 yesterday in the UK. Got a call from my local carphone warehouse saying it had arrived. Over 24 hours with it and it's nice. Notice the difference in battery though from the s7 edge. Probably need to set it up the same before I judge it as I had disabled internet working in the background when an app is closed.

We'll see....
