We have perm root, release tomorrow.

We have write to /system on two production devices, from from the store. We do not have a working recovery yet, no release will be done until then.

A kind soul with a release Thunderbolt dropped by AndIRC tonight. Jamezelle and I were able to confirm Temp Root still works. I will be posting directions for it (nothing special, likely many ways to be done) tomorrow.

We did not have a chance to finish perm root testing before he had to hit the sack (can't blame him, its late). Hopefully we can get it tomorrow.

I agree, this method is too involved for me. Maybe in my younger days I'd be all over it but thats what happens when you have a 2.5 year old and a 14 month!

Your (our) wait is almost over!!!

Late last night the devs managed to obtain S-OFF and CUSTOM RECOVERY on the released firmware. No instructions yet, but they should come later today.

I'd hold off on using the "old" method as an easier, better method should be coming soon!!

Unrevoked team is working on a root. Not 1 click i think. But a more simplified way than this.

My W/L record on my wifes LG ally was 2/1. So while im not afraid to go the hardway to root my new Tbolt, i think i will wait to see if we get an easier method in a few days. My new Tbolt wont be here til probally Tue or Wed anyway, alot can change in the rooting comunity in a couple days LOL

Exactly. I have the free hot spot till mid may so i will wait until then. I'm sure something easier will be out by then. I am capable of using this method. Uprooted my Droid 1. The hard way long ago. But there aren't any find out yet anyway. So ill just sit tight for now
