The Tablet Tavern

We have a 15 year old Scotch whiskey called Dimple here. Hubby told me I'm not supposed to use that one for welding raisins when I'm baking an apple pie :p

Macallan scotch is just a step above Dewars in my opinion. It's the stuff people order at a bar when they want to sound like they know something about liquors, but wouldn't be able to tell the difference when served.

Scotch for me, like wine, has two basic rules ... I have to like it regardless of the label, and i have to be able to afford it. My current go-to scotch is Dalmore. Bourbon is Blanton's or Woodford Reserve. Vodka has to be Luksusowa Polish Potato vodka. :)

I'm getting thirsty!

"welding raisins"?
Is that some way of saying rehydrating?

She uses it as a coolant ... ;)

Ahhh, my local liquor store owner when I lived in Lawrence, KS (loved that guy, SUPER knowledgeable), always recommended Luksusowa Vodka as a great and cheap vodka. I agree! When I have the money, I usually throw down for Ketel One, but after trying some high end vodkas side by side next to some garbage, I don't see the reason to spend much for vodka. :)

I've tried a few top-shelf vodkas and frankly I can't tell the difference. A couple of years ago the wife and I ran across a potato vodka called "Blue Ice" from a distillery on the west coast that we liked very much but can't seem to find it. Tried Chopin, but was unimpressed and then saw the Luksusowa on sale for $12 so I figured i'd give it a shot. I buy it now in the 1.5 liter bottles. :o

My liquor store buddy would just say you're paying for the fancy bottle graphics.
Tito's is good for a domestic vodka. I've tried Cirrus which is from Virginia. Good stuff. :)

Hey now ... don't go trash talking "fancy bottle graphics". They put my kid through school! (I'm a graphic artist, in case you didn't know ;) )

LOL, well, it's a long sad story (okay, no it's not).

Went to art school, work for an Ad Agency for 10 years ... owned my own studio for 5 ... went to work full time for one of my biggest clients and got downsized two years later because of a takeover. Took some time off, wrote a couple of novels (obviously not very good) and wen't back to work in marketing and IT about 7 years ago. The stuff I do now is pretty much industrial or commercial.

You can check out my website, but it's old and I haven't updated much of it in years. Recent stuff might be this ...

A 50 lb. bag of Ice melter or a website I'm doing for a company that manages slag output at steel mills.

Better grab a coffee or you're going to doze off.

Hey, I've worked in ad agencies for 9 years (account management) before I traded in commerce for government ;-) Those were good times.

I remember my days in the agency much like "Mad Men" ... a lot of smoking, drinking and posturing. We got some work done occasionally, too.

It was hard work really. For me it was a stressful period but 'the sky was the limit'. Whenever you thought of a nice cool concept the agency would find a customer to sell it to.
Tbh, the posturing isn't any less where i work now, in local gov.
