I've been disappointed with aging performers trying to sustain their careers. I would think Neil Young would still be good, but even so, we don't go to these "legacy" concerts any more.

Legacy concerts don't really appeal to me either. The idea of paying to see white haired, overweight old men(or ladies) in their 60s, or even '70s....

John Lodge of the Moody Blues in 2012...

...nuff said. "You're no spring chicken any more!" :D

Who else is still alive from Woodstock, '69? Carlos Santana?

I was going to suggest Ravi Shankar, but I see he passed away December last year.
Sly Stone of Sly & The Family Stone, Joe Cocker, Arlo Guthrie, Richie Havens, Grace Slick of Jefferson Airplane, just to name the few I remember. I guess some band members have passed while others are still alive from other groups. Alvin Lee of Ten Years After just recently passed a few weeks ago.

Another thing with these "legacy" bands that still tour. There's often only like one original member, the rest are just session musicians or something.

Apparently you can go and see The Monkees in 2013.
The Monkees | Hey, Hey we're the Monkees

...except that it's only Michael Nesmith.

"Monkees Solo Dates"

Hey, Hey I'm a Monkee!

Imagine Sir Paul McCartney doing a solo tour and calling himself "The Beatles"? It wouldn't happen.

I feel the same way. I wouldn't really want to see many, if any, of the classic rockers. Like you said, they're too old to be doing rock n roll. But some have switched to jazz or soft rock type of music.

Plus Melanie. Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young all went their separate ways.
Must be a heck of a party in heaven with Jimi and Janis :)

Now that I think about it, Chuck Berry still performs around the St. Louis area, mostly at a place called Blueberry Hill every now & then. He's 86 yrs old. I wonder if he can still do that duck walk! :)

So has anyone got the new play store yet ota. I havnt but I did finaly get music on Google play. Now for movies and books soon please Google :D

I downloaded it, but am in no hurry to install it. I don't really spend enough time browsing the play store for me to be interested.

As long as it offers the same, it's low on my prio list. Not downloaded yet, accepting when pushed.

I got thinking about this a few months ago, because another teacher had a video of a recent Moody Blues concert. Where there was a bunch of elderly men doing "Ride My See-Saw", and I thought it was terrible. That's why I picked out John Lodge earlier.

While I'm a fan of Android and like what Google has to offer, I can't get all worked up over this. I'd much rather read a good book, go out to eat, go fishing, take a hot shower on a cold morning, swim in Caribbean, drink beer, watch a ballgame ... need I go on?

That's why I don't go to these reunion or tribute concerts. It's like going to a viewing ... it's the last memory you have of a band you loved and it's a sad one.

Come on. I would almost feel depressed having these tickets (100% full concerts, no tributes nor memorials :o)
I have seen Joe Cocker a couple of years back and it was great. Neil Young still is. The Who too :D

I was disappointed with Sir Paul's rendition at the Olympics. Yeah, the venue was pop clich

Was that both Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend? Because obviously it couldn't be the other two. Last time I heard about Pete Townshend, he was suffering severe tinnitus(too many loud Who concerts most likely), and had been arrested and cautioned as part of Operation Ore.

Don't get me wrong, these concerts can be entertaining, but if I wanted to hear 30 year old music played by old men, I could always go to the Liederkranz. ;) I blame the fans and promoters, mostly. I was at an Ian Andersen concert a while back and he was doing some solo/new material and the audience kept yelling for Jethro Tull. It was embarrassing.

So you blame me for wishing I was born 45 years ago, musicwise? I am critical as well but am convinced certain artists have talent and that is still there.
