I'm tempted to get the $169 n7 from ebay since it looks like we're not getting a new n10 this year.

It is a good tablet. Asus makes it. I got the Memo Pad HD 7 because the nexus line doesn't have the micro SD slot, and I use that.

Also, suppose if we ever take another trip abroad (probably some time next year) I can get a local SIM if need be.

So after downloading my software update for 4.3, I had to do a factory reset because my phone became crazy. I was forced to update to the new tapatalk that I paid for but is now a free version. I hate this layout.

You should be able to download the tapatalk 2 apk from their website and sideload it.
