My brother was unfortunate to lose power for 3-4 days after the Derecho a year or so ago. Coupled with record high temps those days, ugh. Wife and kids escaped to grandma and grandpas as well. :)

What a shock, right?:rolleyes:

A few years ago we had a wind storm that knocked out power for 4-5 days. I would charge my phone and PSP at work, I had a book light to read with, and a battery powered radio. Thankfully we have a natural gas water heater and stove so it wasn't that bad really.
 
It's like being thrown back into the stone age. Having no electricity gives you a little respect for how people were able to live 150 years ago.

Was just like when MSNBC (?) had a really nice in depth, nuanced discussion about the Syrian conflict and they interrupted the interviewee for breaking news: Justin Bieber in court. :rolleyes:

Congrats. I know the high-tech girl with no electricity= unhappy camper.:p

I've been clinging to my paper books, but I've been thinking about getting a Kindle Paperwhite. Books are just starting to take up too much space in my house.:(
