I never used to were a helmet either until last chrismas when i fell just like you in the ice and i had a complete change of heart.

I was in my late twenty's coming down a hill on a road I've ridden 1,000 times. I took a lazy turn and hit a patch of gravel. I started to skid and had the choice of sliding into oncoming traffic or laying it down onto the sidewalk. I chose the sidewalk and my head hit the grass just inches shy of the concrete. My arm was torn up pretty bad (road rash) but my head wasn't split open like a coconut. At the time what upset me the most was that i ruined my favorite jersey, but it was also the last time i ever rode with out a helmet.
