This post is not meant to rubbish or enhance anyone's views of the Xone Phone..

It is my personal experiences only.

Ordered on 20th October - it got to the UK 13th Nov with import duty which was not mentioned or referred to at all.. After complaining on the Chat forum they said I could refuse to accept it at the PO and they would refund on its return or get 10% refund: I got a 10% discount refunded to my C/Card. The import charge was £19.65p.. I'll get back £15.54 refunded.. (I'll gladly accept that for reason below)

The phone was advertised as having a large battery and reasonable size screen (compared to my Sony XA) The battery in it is NOT 3350 Mah.. it say 3250 Mah... It is still larger than my Sony (2300mAh) and acceptable to me.

The Dual camera is not 16Mp but 8.. I asked about this and was told they did not have enough 16Mp version to supply.. I'm guessing they upped the spec because of that (still a little underhanded IMHO... they should have asked me if i would accept.. and i would have.. for reasons below.

It was supposed to be Android 8.1 but it has Android 9 (does it matter to me?... not much i don't think.. I didn't notice much difference with the other iterations of KitKat etc etc) Re-sale may be helped perhaps.

It was advertised as 2Gb/16Gb .. I just about got away with that on my Sony XA, so was ok with it.. It turned up with 3Gb/32Gb.. more than pleased.

Camera.. I found the Sony camera files larger than i wanted and not that good quality or more likely not in focus where I'd like.. even on a landscape!.. This one at 8Mp was a bit of an unknown.. However i can actually see it focus where i touch on the screen and it does take the photo, in focus, where i touched focus.. Will it set the world alight..? As a photographer.. probably not, but it is fine for its purpose. It does have a plethora of options.. beaty/bokeh BW etc.. a lot more fun than the Sony (but admittedly it was an older phone/version)

Naivety: It was a whim purchase.. broke my own rule there. Will it suffice? Yes.. The two main thing generally .Android 9 (for added value) Screen is excellent (thought the Sony was really good too) Memory .. errr WOW.

Value.. I guess you could get another Chinese phone with similar specs...but I'm pleased

The Case? I posted another thread in the lounge about that.. I can't say that all phones come with the gel case but this one did although I stupidly didn't included it in the original order and could not find one online anywhere. Would it have been worth the asking price of £15. NO!.. but any protection os better than none.

USB port. No it is not USB C.. but the ubiquitous standard (older) Micro USB (B?)

Sound: Someone complained (on YT) about the volume being too low and no good for music... I found I could have my Sony neckband Bass boost Bluetooth in ear phones.. on the Sony i could stand the max volume and go a bit more if there was something recorded quiet.. not on this one... 2 step below max is very loud. Perhaps this is a different model. Sound from the little speaker.. much better than my 'tinny' Sony although as you'd expect Headphone use is a totally different experience on both.. a personal thing here; but both are/were, good in that dept

Can't think of anything else presently.. Hope this puts some light on a future purchaser's decision to buy or not. I think I'd buy again despite the difficulties; but that's me.
 
Glad you got lucky on the RAM/storage. To be honest I'd not buy a 16GB phone myself, so that particular error in your favour is in my opinion far more important than the others which were not.

I've got to admit though that microUSB-A would be a drawback for me. You describe it as "ubitquitous" but in my household it's the opposite: there are some legacy devices (such as my 2013 model tablet) which are microUSB-A, but they are already a minority here. And I definitely like being able to use my laptop's charger for my phone or even my presentation controller rather than having to faff with multiple chargers or cables, not to mention using my laptop as a rapid charger for my phone rather than a slow trickle charger. But yes, it's a more expensive connector (hence less likely to be found on lower-margin devices) and if you aren't already migrating to it it's probably not an issue.
 
yeah i will never ever buy a 2gb ram device........minimum would be 3gb which turns out is better for you. never heard of xone phone. is this a uk company?

.. No.. i don't think it is anything to do with UK.. it is a Chinese company I believe. I won't post a link.. I am not in their employ :)

You probably could get something similar elsewhere.. It's just that the price was ok for me and it filled a need. It is not cutting edge but not cutting edge price either.

Battery left has exceeded my usual use by 50% so far.. a plus for me. Other will have greater needs..I got by with a 2Gb/16 phone.. what does that say.
 
before christmas i did fall for one their sales ads via my mobile phone .
after about 12hrs i decided to cancel the order .
This was difficult process, as was info on the company was said to be in UK , but in Tallinn, Estonia .
They said the order gone out ,on different web page i got chat window and pester them till they took my details and confirmed i would be refunded within 30 days ! Which to my relief i did get .
Last week i got message they was parcel waiting for me at Post office , and i needed to pay £20 custom duty . I was reluctant to pay as they wouldnt tell me where/whom parcel came from .
To my surprise was a Xone phone box containing one OUKITEL c 16 PRO smartphone.
i have double checked my bank/paypal... saw no suspicious charges .
Do i assume they sent it by mistake , would they demand i return it , Should i keep it ??!?
 
if you had refunded someone's payment (over £120) and you had already sent the item to someone.. what would you like them to do?

Quite.

But as the customer I have to say that if I'd had to pay a £20 customs charge to receive the item I'd cancelled I'd at least like them to pay the postage for the return ;).
 
I agree entirely

I'd ask them to furnish return post.. You are then doing your bit. You should not be out of pocket though

I am still in a quandary.. I'm not displeased with the phone but it still irks me that I didn't get what sucked me in in the first place.. It seems better specified as Oukitel apart from the 8mp camera versus 16mp in the original.
On the other hand I have had to person to person phone backs quickly. Would I have got that from Oukitel.. Doubt it. So there is some real support. What is that worth over the buy it direct normal price you could buy it. That is up to the purchaser.

Further to my opening post.
I miss the notification LEDs that had on other phones. You could tell by the colour if it was email, text or something else that was waiting. Instead, you have to open up the screen. Battery does last longer than the previous Sony I had despite a quite larger screen!

I actually think I'd look at buying an Oukitel C 'something' in the future.. There is a lot for the money.. Brand means nothing to me.. Just value.

But Hey.. Each to jus own..
