Theme Android with _Free_ theme apps?

I'm in Canada, and unfortunately we seem to be treated like a non-industrialized country when it comes to the marketplace (since we can't access paid apps).

I'd like to theme my phone, but I can not purchase aHome.

Are there any theme apps that are free and that don't suck?

At the very least, is there a way to get more than 3 screens without having to root?

I've read that FreshFace from T-Mobile (from the makers of aHome) gives you 5 screens. I've also read a lot of reviews that say it slows down the phone a lot.

well ahome, dxtop and openhome all have lite version that work okay..
and then sweeter home is free. I've never really used any of them though. that's mostly because I really like some of the widgets I have and they don't work with home replacements. anyway, give some of them a try.
